Good mine: Mitsubishi ASX review

Restyled Mitsubishi ASX, oddly enough, has become one of the most popular exhibits of Geneva. Whether due to the fact that the world premieres were a bit small, the German premium segment was particularly bleak, or because the Mitsubishi ASX was taken from afar for some sort of Japanese model, and only coming closer did they recognize three familiar letters …
Based on recent trends, a radical restyling of a middle-aged model may indicate that the car will not change anymore. However, the Japanese have their own ideas about doing business. After the Renault-Nissan alliance took the “Mitsu” in tow, the further actions of the non-independent brand managers now became difficult to predict. But they will take and release ASX in this form for another ten years – no one bothers. However, the natural logic of the development of the modern market says that there will be two years to the next update, no less.

As for the technical side, the new power units on the ASX, we will not see. One can blame the Japanese indefinitely for the fact that the F5M43 5-speed box of its own production has become outdated hopelessly, so it’s as if in Mitsu they calmly answer: “But it is reliable.”
And the 1.6-liter 4A92 engine is not as retrograde as it seems: let’s say it has a compression ratio of 11.0, which is a lot. All this technology allows us to keep a low price in the European market, and in our country, where ASX is imported from Japan.

Before we refresh the impression of the interior, let’s see if it has changed much?

We got excited with the climate control unit: after all, the design of the Krutilok has changed a little, but their location and functional load are not. To the touch, the modified regulators remained flimsy and still not giving a noticeable reactive force when switching. The panel itself, on which they are fixed, also “walks” a little bit – however, this does not affect the quality of their work.

Encoders of a new multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, which previously repeated the curves of the central panel, and now pushed forward – to match the “climate”. They are designed to control the radio and audio volume. All the other “buttons” are virtual: click on the multimedia screen – and you will be happy. It must be said that despite the rustic (but not primitive) graphics, the logic of working with the “head” device is completely transparent and intuitive, at least when meeting.

The driver’s seat will cause criticism in the first place among fans of vertical landing: they simply will not be able to set the backrest as usual high. There is only one way out: to move the pillow forward and “lean back.” Only in this case, the head will be on the headrest, which, by itself, there is no longitudinal adjustment.

Instrument panel remained unchanged. Here, regarding the design of the dials, the claim is only for the speedometer, where the numbers are not pulled out immediately, and to the on-board computer screen – it is simply outdated.

Meanwhile, no matter how scolded ASX is for archaism, after all, in addition to price, there are a lot of indisputable advantages, including off-road.

By and large, it is possible and not tied to this bend of the exhaust pipe – in the end, it will begin to cling to the road only if the car moves on a deep rut. Everything else is done on the mind and with the expectation of off-road, at least, light, in the form of primers softened under the autumn rains and a snow-covered field. Actually, the bottom has always been a strong point of Mitsubishi.

Restyling will undoubtedly add both European and Russian buyers to the car, and if they update localized ASX at one of the enterprises of the alliance, they venture to localize – Kolesa.ru wrote about this probability before – this will allow, if not to lower the price, then at least prolong the life of the car even if it is finally removed from production in its homeland.
