Chery begins assembling cars on the “Autotor”

This information in private conversations of the Kolesa.ru editors was reported by several sources at the Kaliningrad enterprise and at the Russian representative office of the Chinese company Chery Automobile Rus.

Chery, together with Lifan, stopped assembling cars on DerVase last year, simultaneously loading their warehouses as much as possible. As of mid-November last year, neither Chery nor Lifan had a signed contract with DerVase for 2019. The deputy general director of Lifan Motor Rus, Vyacheslav Galuzinsky, in an interview with our site Kolesa.ru, reported at that time that he was ready to sign an agreement with DerVais at any time – up to the last day of February 2019. However, after December 10, the Investigative Committee for Karachay-Cherkessia opened a criminal case “on the fact of tax evasion on a large scale by the limited liability company of the automotive company Derways”, no one had any words about assembling cars . The investigators then recorded the sum of this “large size” – 319,371,828 rubles.

Such stories – either explicitly or implicitly, have always accompanied DerWeys activities. For example, back in 2012, the Chief Accountant of DerVeys, Apchar Patova, became a defendant in the case, instituted under Part 3 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “fraud committed by a group of persons on a large scale and abuse of official authority, entailing serious consequences.”

Vyacheslav Galuzinsky called the end of February “the reference date” for the following reason: the stock reserves, in his opinion, should have been enough just before that time, although in fact, as we wrote earlier, they began to dry up in the fall. At the same time, many cars of previous years of release remained not sold. For example, even in December 2018, when, according to the data of Avtostat, provided to Kolesa.ru within the framework of cooperation, 695 Lifan cars were registered, three cars of 2016 are produced in the registers and 236 cars of 2017 are already released!

Meanwhile, in January 2019, which is expected, Lifan became the absolute leader of the Russian market in sales in the segment of passenger brands with a result of -53% (brands that exist nominally, like Changan or Chrysler, do not count). Chery has a similar situation, but only that there will not be enough inventory for a long time, while the brand even grew by 4% in January.

Of course, the last day of February, Vyacheslav Galuzinsky noted not only on the basis of their forecast for the volume of warehouses, obviously, there were other reasons. One of them – and, it seems, the main one – is the prompt conclusion by “Avtotor” of a Special Investment Contract (SPIC) with the government of the Russian Federation. This was supposed to happen as early as February, but until the end of the month there was only a week left and so far we don’t have any signals that the document will be signed before the 28th.

You will ask why SPIK Avtotor is, because it receives state support under the Federal Law “On the Special Economic Zone in the Kaliningrad Region”, which, by the way, the company at one time switched to the SKD-4 assembly cycle, when border comes welded and painted body and about four thousand components to it, firmware electronic systems, etc. To obtain state support, it was required that at least one third of the value added should be created when assembling cars on Avtotor. The SKD-4 method was very helpful, since it involves up to several thousand operations. The special economic zone in the Kaliningrad region will operate at least until 2031, but it is the presence of the SPIC that will allow Avtotor to set the price for cars that the Chinese are willing to buy from them. In short, as soon as Avtotor and the Government of the Russian Federation hit their hands, Chery’s assembly will go in Kaliningrad.

And here we make a reservation: with 100% certainty, we are talking only about Chery – the reader probably remembers that we have previously written that Chery is moving to Avtotor, just now representatives of both companies – both Chery and Avtotor they talk about it freely, however, while in private conversations.

But the question is: which Chery models will stand on the most western of Russian automobile conveyors? The choice here, as they say, is narrow, and therefore obvious, especially since we know about all the Chery updates in Russia this year, and there are two of them: the compact Tiggo7 crossover and the subcompact Tiggo4. The premiere of Tiggo7 will take place this coming Friday, March 1, however, not the Russian version – the imported copy will be shown, for which the certificate (OTTS) was received. T
